There are more tiny house builders than ever, and more of them go broke than anyone likes to say. This directory lists active builders by country with the date each price was checked, the certification that matters in that market, and a plain flag on companies that have closed or entered administration since 2022. What changed in 2026
- Certification is now the buyer's filter. In the USA, NOAH or RVIA certification is effectively required for finance and insurance. In Australia THIA accreditation and a VSB1-compliant trailer; in New Zealand a Licensed Building Practitioner under the new 70 m² exemption; in Canada the right CSA standard for the intended use.
- Big retail arrived: Bunnings now sells Elsewhere Pods flat-packs from $26,100.
- New Zealand's 15 January 2026 consent exemption is pushing builders toward foundation-built minor dwellings and away from wheels.

Before you pay a deposit: check certification for your intended use, search the company register for solvency, insist on staged payments tied to build milestones, confirm insurance and warranty in writing, and visit the workshop. The full checklist →
